Bioprocess was set up in 1999 as a family-owned wholesale business for the production and export of traditional Bulgarian essential oils and floral waters. Now the expanded company activities are focused on the production and marketing of gemmotherapy extracts obtained by maceration of fresh plant buds and shoots. With more than 50 single glycerine macerates in our product list we are among the world leaders in this field.

The company factory is located in the town of Kostenets, at the foothills of the Rila Mountains in Bulgaria. As the largest national park in Bulgaria, the Rila Mountains are among the most valuable protected areas in Europe. The name Rila comes from the Thracian word “roula” meaning “lots of water.” The area is famous for its mineral springs, rivers, thick forests and rich biodiversity, which provides a phenomenal array of wild-grown medicinal and aromatic plants. Our town also neighbors one of the main rose and lavender production areas at the west end of the Valley of Roses. This location makes us uniquely positioned to capture the vast diversity of plants that nature has to offer in Bulgaria: from traditionally cultivated to wildgrown.
